On 27 October 2015, The National Geographic Channel, in collaboration with Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD), SingTel, Science Centre and Institute of Infocomm Research, launched Project Breakthrough, a new programme aimed at exciting and inspiring youths with Science and Engineering. The Guest-of-honour of the event was Dr Yaacob Ibrahim, Minister for Communications and Information.
Project Breakthrough is a six-part series that will feature fields such as longevity, the brain, assistive robotics, alternative energy, water and pandemics. Youths will be able to post questions online to SUTD scientists and experts after each episode.
In conjunction with the Project Breakthrough programme, the SUTD-MIT International Design Centre will be organising relevant design activities or learning sessions later this year to further engage students. During this time, the students will have access to SUTD professors and researchers who will help them to better understand the work that they do.
