Financial Aid

We aim to advance knowledge and nurture technically grounded leaders and innovators to serve societal needs. To realize this vision, we recruit talented and promising students and provide financial support based on merit and need.

There are several Financial Aid (FA) schemes available to assist our undergraduate students in funding their tertiary education. However, a number of these schemes are only available to Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents. You are advised to read through the various FA schemes provided as follows before applying for any of the schemes.

CPF Education Scheme (CES)

Who can apply
Loan scheme allowing full-time undergraduate students to use their own CPF savings or that of their parents to pay for their tuition fees.

Quantum
Loan covers up to 100% of the subsidised tuition fees. The CPF member is allowed to use up to 40% of the accumulated savings in the Ordinary Account (OA), or the remaining balance in the OA after settling aside any amounts reserved for housing or other schemes (if any), whichever is the lower.

Household income criteria
Not applicable

Repayment
Repay the full amount of CPF savings withdrawn and the interest accrued which is computed from the time savings were withdrawn. Interest will be charged on any outstanding amount until the loan is fully paid. The amount repaid will be credited to the CPF account of the member whose savings had been used for the loan

How to apply
Minimum repayment sum per month is S$100. Maximum repayment period is 12 years. Apply online or submit application form to Office of Student Administration (OSA) within the application period.

Mendaki Tertiary Tuition Fee Subsidy

Who can apply
Financially needy Malay undergraduate students who are Singapore citizens and PCI* is not more than S$1,500

Quantum
Up to 100% subsidy of subsidised tuition fees

Household income criteria

  • 100% subsidy if PCI* is S$1,000 and below.
  • 75% subsidy if PCI* is S$1,001-S$1,200.
  • 50% subsidy if PCI* is S$1,201-S$1,500.

Repayment
No repayment is required.

Post-Secondary Education Account

Who can apply
Singaporean undergraduate students who have funds in their PSEA. They can also use the funds in their siblings’ PSEA (up to three siblings)

Repayment
Not applicable

How to apply
Student must matriculate before applying. Download application form from the website, fill it and submit it to Office of Student Administration (OSA).

Tuition Fee Loan
Who can apply
Full-time undergraduate students who are on the government tuition grant.

Quantum
Loan covers up to 90% of the subsidised tuition fees payable by Singapore citizens.

Household income criteria
None

Repayment
Interest-free loan while studying at SUTD.

How to apply
Maximum repayment period is 20 years. Download application form from the website, fill it and proceed directly (with all required documents) to any DBS bank for application.

Study Loan Scheme

Who can apply
Financially needy full-time undergraduate students who are on the government tuition grant. To be eligible, students must be awarded one or a combination of the following schemes covering at least 80% of the subsidised fees payable by Singapore Citizens (SC).

  1. Tuition Fee Loan (TFL)
  2. CPF Education Scheme (CES)
  3. Mendaki Tertiary Tuition Fee Subsidy (TTFS)​

Scholarship (that does not provide allowance)

Quantum
Loan covers up to 20% (subject to qualifying income criteria) of the subsidised tuition fees payable by Singapore citizens. Annual allowance of S$3,600 to cover living expenses.

Household income criteria
Interest-free study loan

  • For Singapore citizens and permanent residents – Monthly per capita income (PCI*) of S$950 and below

Interest-bearing study loan

  • For Singapore citizens and permanent residents – Monthly PCI* of S$2,700 and below; S$1,200 and below for international students

Repayment
For interest-bearing study loan, the interest is computed upon graduation. Minimum repayment sum per month is S$100. Maximum repayment period is 20 years.

How to apply
Download application form from the website, fill it and submit it together with all required documents to Office of Student Administration (OSA). Once approved by OSA, the student should proceed to any of the DBS bank for application.

Bursaries

MOE Bursary
 
Who can apply
Singapore citizens whose PCI* is not more than S$1,900.
 
Quantum
Up to S$2,600 and tenable for one year of study. Re-application is required every year. Recipients cannot concurrently hold a CDC/CCC university bursary.

Household income criteria

  • S$2,600 if PCI* is S$1,400 and below

  • S$1,300 if PCI* is S$1,401-S$1,900

Repayment
No repayment is required if student completes studies.

Student must matriculate before applying. Apply via MyPortal within the application period.
 

CDC/CCC University Bursary

Who can apply 
Financially needy Singapore citizens.

Quantum 
Up to S$3,600 and tenable for one year of study. Re-application is required every year. Recipients cannot concurrently hold a MOE bursary.
 
Household income criteria 
PCI* does not exceed S$950.

Repayment
No repayment is required if student completes studies.
 
How to apply
Student must matriculate before applying. Apply via MyPortal within the application period.
