University Professor
The SUTD University Professorship is the highest academic appointment conferred to senior faculty members who have made honorable long term contributions, built legacies and showcased deep impact on SUTD.
Former President of the Singapore University of Technology and Design from April 2018 to July 2024, Prof Chong is also SUTD’s founding Provost since 2010. He played an instrumental role in steering the strategic development and operationalisation of SUTD. His leadership and guidance as President saw through the University’s second phase of growth and development - the SUTD Growth Plan.
Honorary Professor
The SUTD Honorary Professorship is the highest honour bestowed by SUTD. It reflects the institution’s commitment to recognise Professors, who may have transitioned or on part-time service, whose work have made a lasting impact at SUTD and continues to demonstrate an unwavering commitment in the mission of SUTD. Their affiliation will continue to advance the interest of the University.
Ambassador-at-Large with Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Professor Chan was a pioneer and held the appointment of Chairman of the Lee Kuan Yew Centre for Innovative Cities (LKYCIC) at SUTD from 2012 to 2021. She is also Chairman of the ISEAS - Yusof Ishak Institute, and Deputy Chairman of the Social Science Research Council (SSRC), a Member of the Science of Cities Committee and National Research Foundation (NRF).
Professor Pey Kin Leong
SUTD's founding Associate Provost, Professor Pey was appointed by the Ministry of Education (Singapore) to set up the SUTD undergraduate programme in 2010. With his pioneering effort and leadership in the continuous development and refinement of the curriculum, our undergraduate programmes attained full accreditation from the Engineering Accredication Board and Board of Architects in 2017. In his subsequent role as Associate Provost for Digital Learning, Professor Pey drove efforts in digital transformation to enhance educational experience at SUTD.
