Contemporary architectural design involves time-consuming simulations of structures and environments to assess building performance. Such processes can be improved by applying state-of-the-art optimisation techniques.
 
This research uses model-based optimisation for various architectural design problems such as building energy and daylighting optimisation. A novel, interactive visualisation of the surrogate models derived from such optimisation has also been created to support their use in architectural design processes. Architects and consultants will then be better able to adopt such techniques during design.
