GIC Sparks & Smiles Award

The GIC Sparks & Smiles Award is a special programme for undergraduates who believe they can make a positive impact in someone's life. It is a Study Grant established to support full-time undergraduates of SUTD who will participate in a leadership and community programme. Recipients will mentor disadvantaged children and youths as part of this programme.

Eligibility

  • Open to Singapore Citizens (SC) only
  • Full-time undergraduates in any year of study pursuing any pillar programme at SUTD
  • Demonstrated financial need with monthly household Per Capita Income of 110% or less of the Ministry of Education's ceiling for Gross Monthly Household per Capita Income as listed on Financial Assistance Information for IHLs
  • Motivated student
  • Must NOT be a current scholarship holder

Tenure

  • Each Study Grant is tenable for one (1) year only
  • Recipients may reapply to be considered for the Study Grant in their subsequent year of study, subject to meeting the eligibility criteria
  • Each recipient shall be eligible for the Grant for a maximum of two (2) times throughout the duration of his/her candidature

  • Training by social service professionals in mentoring and basic counselling

Terms & Conditions

  • Successful recipients are expected to commit a minimum of 25 hours to mentor underprivileged youths/children with the Non-Governmental Organization ("NGO") selected by GIC
  • Recipients are required to attend a full day leadership and community training programme organised by the donor
