Congratulations to Associate Professor Liu Xiaogang’s PhD Student in winning the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) Excellent Student Award
He was honored with the “Winner of RSC Excellent Student Award” by the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) this September. This award recognizes his academic excellence in leveraging computational chemistry to facilitate interdisciplinary research and his contribution to promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect (DEIR) within the scientific community.

Congratulations to Associate Professor Desmond Loke’s Lab for receiving the 2024 Techconnect Innovation Award
Assoc. Prof. Desmond Loke’s lab has developed scalable technologies for modulating Medium-doped Amorphous Glass (MAG). This breakthrough enables industry to use the extraordinary properties of amorphous glasses for next-generation digital memory devices for automotive, internet-of-things, and edge AI applications with quicker performance and enhanced energy efficiency, reliability, and downsizing ability.


Dr Lee Chee Huei and Dr Ching Chee Leong Featured on Berita Harian
Berita Harian published an article about a solar system installation project that helps improve the lives of villagers in Yogyakarta. The project was part of SUTD’s FACT programme in collaboration with HCLTech and Gadjah Mada University Yogyakarta. Dr Lee Chee Huei and Dr Ching Chee Leong led the trip.

Assistant Professor Ang Yee Sin’s researcher, Tan Chuin Wei has won the best oral award in the International Conference on Low-Energy Digital Devices and Computing (ICLED-2023).
This is the second conference presentation award received by him this year. Congratulations to Chuin Wei for his hard work and achievements!


Centre for Quantum Technologies (CQT) Fellow – Associate Professor Dario Poletti
Congratulations to Associate Professor Dario Poletti who has been appointed as the Centre for Quantum Technologies (CQT) Fellow!
CQT has a goal of being a national centre that brings together quantum researchers from across Singapore’s research organisations. One step towards this is the appointment of three new CQT Fellows. The new appointees join from three different institutions. Mile is an Associate Professor at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU Singapore), Wen Wei is an Assistant Professor at the National University of Singapore (NUS) and Dario Poletti is an Associate Professor at Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD).

Assistant Professor Ang Yee Sin’s research team members have won two awards in the International Symposium on Advanced Functional Materials (ISAFM2). The symposium is organised by Monash University Malaysia.
SMT Senior Research Assistant, Tan Chuin Wei has won the Champion award for the Modelling category (best presentation).
SMT visiting student, Su Tong (funded by CSC) has won the best poster design award.

Assistant Professor Liu Xiaogang’s PhD student, Wu Xia, presented the research work titled “Molecular Design of Dual-Emission Rhodamine Analogs” in the 4th Asian Conference on Chemosensors & Imaging Probes (Asian-ChIP 2023), and she won the best oral presentation award.
This is a big achievement and a testament to her hard work, dedication, and talent. Congratulations to Wu Xia!
