prof Chong Tow Chong
University Professor, Director (Temasek Laboratories)
Professor Chong Tow Chong is a University Professor and Director of Temasek Laboratories under SUTD. Prior to this, he was the President of SUTD from April 2018 to 31 July 2024. He was also SUTD’s founding Provost from 2010 to 2018, where he played a crucial role in steering the strategic development and operationalisation of the University. As President, he provided leadership and guidance for the next phase of SUTD’s growth, ensuring continuity in the pursuit of its vision, mission, and strategic goals.

SUTD Honorary Professor, Former Chair (Lee Kuan Yew Centre for Innovative Cities)
Ambassador-at-Large with Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Professor Chan was a pioneer and held the appointment of Chairman of the Lee Kuan Yew Centre for Innovative Cities (LKYCIC) at SUTD from 2012 to 2021. She is also Chairman of the ISEAS – Yusof Ishak Institute, and Deputy Chairman of the Social Science Research Council (SSRC), a Member of the Science of Cities Committee and National Research Foundation (NRF).

SUTD Honorary Professor, Founding Associate Provost
SUTD’s founding Associate Provost, Professor Pey was appointed by the Ministry of Education (Singapore) to set up the SUTD undergraduate programme in 2010. With his pioneering effort and leadership in the continuous development and refinement of the curriculum, our undergraduate programmes attained full accreditation from the Engineering Accredication Board and Board of Architects in 2017. In his subsequent role as Associate Provost for Digital Learning, Professor Pey drove efforts in digital transformation to enhance educational experience at SUTD.
