Congratulations to Associate Professor Lu Wei for Best Paper Award at SemEval 2022
We are pleased to share that a paper that was co-authored by Associate Professor Lu Wei and Alibaba DAMO received the Best Paper Award at SemEval 2022. This is the only best paper in the ‘system description’ category. The first author of the paper is a visiting CSC student of Associate Professor Lu Wei’s team from ShanghaiTech University, and the team consists of researchers from Alibaba, ShanghaiTech, ZJU and SUTD.
The paper describes a system that wins 10 out of 13 tracks in Task 13: SemEval 2022 Task 11: MultiCoNER Multilingual Complex Named Entity Recognition. The paper is here: https://arxiv.org/pdf/2203.00545.pdf. See the results here: https://multiconer.github.io/multiconer_1/results. SemEval is ranked 9th in NLP: https://scholar.google.com/citations?view_op=top_venues&hl=en&vq=eng_computationallinguistics.
SemEval (https://semeval.github.io/) is a series of international natural language processing (NLP) research workshops whose mission is to advance the current state of the art in semantic analysis and to help create high-quality annotated datasets in a range of increasingly challenging problems in natural language semantics. Each year’s workshop features a collection of shared tasks in which computational semantic analysis systems designed by different teams are presented and compared.
