Asst. Prof. Dinh Tien Tuan Anh was co-author with NUS’ Computer Science PhD student Ruan Pingcheng for the paper that won Best Paper Award at the 45th International Conference on Very Large Data Bases (VLDB) 2019.

This paper uses database techniques to enrich blockchain storage layer, making it efficient at storing and retrieving provenance data. By exposing provenance to smart contracts, the system proposed in the paper enables new classes of applications that are provenance dependent. The system is evaluated on Hyperledger Fabric, and is shown to incur small overhead.
