Philip is an engineer by training with over 15 years of experience at DSO National Laboratories, where he served as a Principal Member of Technical Staff. A recipient of the Defence Technology Training Award, he graduated from the National University of Singapore and later earned a Master’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University under a postgraduate scholarship. At DSO, he played a key role in overseeing technology development and project management in Unmanned and Space Systems, successfully leading satellite launches and advanced engineering initiatives.
Philip has a deep passion for advanced technology and complex systems engineering. Following his tenure in defence R&D, he ventured into entrepreneurship, founding and leading multiple technology companies across Singapore and Southeast Asia. As the Founder and CTO of two tech companies—CoolRIOTS specialising in Agentic AI workflow orchestration for business execution and PPIC Technologies in tech recruitment, training, and consultancy—he spearheads multiple engineering teams across product development, DevOps, artificial intelligence, IoT, and software engineering. He is also the chief architect of the BeX AI Platform, a cutting-edge AI workflow orchestration system designed for complex automation and execution.
Beyond his work in engineering and AI, Philip is passionate about education and training. Since 2009, he has been actively involved in professional and continuing education, conducting engineering and software courses at Nanyang Technological University’s Centre for Professional and Continuing Education (PaCE@NTU). His expertise spans embedded systems, Internet of Things (IoT), real-time systems, and operating systems, where he shares hands-on industry insights with practitioners. More recently, Philip has expanded his focus to Generative AI and Industry 4.0, training companies and adult learners in leveraging AI-driven transformation for business and industry applications. Philip is also a trainer in Knowledgecom Malaysia.
