David Khoo (IMDA) – Singapore’s 5G Industry Transformation Programme
Abstract
Singapore’s deployment of 5G standalone (SA) is still relative new – less than a year old to date. Being a fast follower, we have made significant strides in the right direction and in some areas, taken the lead with our 5G rollout. Having said that, how do we actually compare, with the rest of the world in terms of real world 5G speeds and latency? What has the government done to accelerate and stimulate 5G adoption within the industry? More importantly, has the industry embraced the benefits brought about by higher mobile broadband speeds, massive IoT sensors and low latency communications enabled by mobile edge compute? Here we will look at 5G being the catalyst for industry transformation and how this can enable Singapore to become an innovator within the global digital economy. Development of 5G use cases across each of the following sectors will be elaborated.
- Maritime Industry
- Logistics and Manufacturing Industry
- Smart Estate Industry
- Lifestyle Industry
- Healthcare Industry
