HASS Colloquium Series: New Space Home: A Transdisciplinary Path to Design Futurescaping
Abstract
This lecture will introduce a design futures method that integrates interdisciplinary knowledge to design the future of space habitation. This method combines knowledge from various fields such as architecture, bioengineering, psychology, and sociology, creating a systematic framework from conceptual exploration to implementation pathways. The Futurescaping team has created exhibits including the Mars Diary science fiction short film, Pioneers’ Archives, Material Revolution, and the Marsia’s Box, showcasing various possibilities and innovative designs for future space life. The exhibition not only displays the fusion of art and technology but also provokes thoughts about future space exploration and human life among the audience. This interdisciplinary design approach provides new possibilities for human survival in extreme environments and presents a new form of future civilization.
