MySQL was created over 25 years ago and is the world’s most popular open source relational database. In this talk, we will explain why you should learn MySQL, jhow MySQL solves problems in the software industry, and how database skills can guide your career growth. We will also provide resources to help you learn and explore career opportunities utilizing this skillset.

Heather VanCura is a Senior Director at Oracle based in Redwood City California, for the Standards Strategy & Architecture team in the Chief Architect office. She is also Chairperson of the Java Community Process (JCP) program and lead of the MySQL Community Outreach and Developer Relations. In this role she serves as an International speaker, and an organizer of developer events (virtual) around the world. She regularly leads coding workshops that extend into local communities to engage young girls, and delivers keynote presentations, including her signature series: How to Ally for Diversity & Women in Tech.
Heather has worked with developers and technology executives for the past twenty years at Oracle, Sun Microsystems and at SCO Unix. She is passionate about growing technology and community building dynamics, diversity, women in technology, STEM education, travel, fitness, and wearable technology. We will share how object stores can be used to handle all kinds of data with large volume and how we can build databases with performance using object stores.

Santosh is a technologist with more than 18 years of experience in building data solutions. Santosh has extensive experience working with data and worked across industries such as banking, telecommunications, retail, energy and utilities. Santosh has expertise in building hybrid data infrastructures across cloud and on-premises. He has helped various organizations to build modern data architecture with data lake house, data mesh and data fabric.
Santosh loves to learn new technologies and has a lot of interest in building Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) backed data solutions with Kubernetes based infrastructure.
