Congratulations to Assistant Professor Soujanya Poria for receiving the 2024 IEEE CIS Outstanding Early Career Award with the citation “For contributions to the development of deep learning models for conversational understanding, and sentiment and emotion analysis.” The IEEE CIS Outstanding Early Career award is to recognize an outstanding young scientist or engineer who contributed to the advancement of theory, technologies, and/or applications of computational intelligence through inventions, new technologies, innovative technical developments, new product implementations, or the management of innovative product design or production processes.

As an active participant in the academic community, Dr. Poria serves as an associate editor for reputable publications including Cognitive Computation, Information Fusion, IEEE Transactions on Big Data, and Neurocomputing. His commitment to advancing the field of artificial intelligence was acknowledged when he was named one of the recipients of the IEEE’s “10 to Watch in AI” award in 2022. In addition to this recognition, Dr. Poria has received other esteemed awards, including the IEEE CIS Outstanding Early Career Award in 2024, the Aminer AI2000 Most Influential Scholar Honorable Mention Award in 2023, and the Singapore President’s Young Scientist Award in 2023.
