Congratulations to Associate Professor Lu Wei and his PhD Students Xiaobing Sun and Jiaxi Li for winning the Outstanding Paper Award at The 2023 Conference on Empirical Methods in Natural Language Processing (EMNLP 2023).

EMNLP is one of the very best conferences in NLP (with CORE ranking A*). The conference this year received over 4900 submissions to the main conference from all over the world, and only less than 30 of these papers received awards at the main conference.

The paper focuses on a fundamental topic and conducts some theoretical analysis to understand the feature extraction mechanism within neural networks, including those components used for large language models.
