Singapore’s Centre for Liveable Cities (CLC) and the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen knowledge exchange and collaboration in the field of urban solutions.

CLC and SUTD issued a joint statement on Thursday (March 13) saying that the two organisations will deepen cooperation to jointly research and promote solutions in areas such as innovative cities, healthy cities, regenerated cities, urban mobility and liveability, and promote climate action, urban health and liveable development.

Executive Director of CLC, Hugh Lim, said that the technical research capabilities of SUTD in urban innovation, urbanisation, climate action, health and liveability are highly consistent with CLC’s research in the areas of urban liveability, community development and regenerative cities. This collaboration will help promote the future development of Singapore and contribute to the creation of liveable, sustainable and regenerative cities around the world.

Next, both parties will conduct urban case studies on innovation, transformation, and revitalization, and jointly organise events such as lectures and forums.

Professor Tai Lee Siang, Vice-President and Chief Innovation and Enterprise Officer, SUTD, said that advanced technologies such as design and artificial intelligence can promote sustainable urban development and improve the well-being of residents. This collaboration will help apply research and innovation to real-world urban challenges.
