Criteria for admission

The NEED programme seeks individuals with a strong passion for IC design, research and reliability analysis and who possess a strong background in electronics/electrical engineering or a related field.

 

Individuals who possess relevant work experience are also welcome to apply.

 

All applicants should possess the following:

  • At least a Bachelor’s degree or above with excellent academic standing (Second-Upper Honours and above) and majoring in electronics/electrical engineering or a related field, or
  • At least 2 years of relevant work experience
  • Proficiency in English (IELTS or TOEFL is required if English is not your medium of instruction in your studies)

Application Process

 

Follow the steps in the SUTD Online Application Portal to complete your application. This will take approximately 15 to 20 minutes to complete. Please have the following information and electronic copies of supporting documents ready to facilitate your application:

 

  1. Original Undergraduate Degree certificate and academic transcripts

Please provide your undergraduate degree certificate, official academic transcripts and official letter of certification from your institution stating the expected date of graduation or award of degree if you have not graduated from your degree programme. Please include the grading policy/system for your transcript. For non-English documents, an official English translation must be provided (at your expense). Those who have a Master degree, should also provide the Master degree certificate and official academic transcripts.

 

  1. Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score report​

If the medium of instruction during your undergraduate studies was not in English, please submit your IELTS or TOEFL scores no later than 2 weeks after the application deadline.

 

  1. Name, designation and institutional e-mail address of THREE academic referees

Your academic referees must be able to gauge your scholastic capabilities and achievements and your ability to complete the programme. It is advisable to notify your academic referees beforehand as they must submit their respective online recommendations within 1 week of your application submission.

 

  1. Relevant supporting documents

Soft copy or web links to your curriculum vitae, academic and/or industry portfolio, awards, publications, etc.

 

  1. Your Singapore Identity Card (NRIC) or relevant pages in your Passport

 

  1. Your Statement of Objectives (1,500 words) softcopy

 

  1. Research Project Selection

Each applicant is encouraged to indicate the research project that they wish to undertake to complete their Master thesis.

 

  1. Required Documents for CGU

 

Please refer to the CGU website (CGU Dual Degree Programme Application Checklist) for the checklist of documents to submit.

 

Please email the completed CGU documents to mneed@sutd.edu.sg.

 

The uploaded documents must be in English. Otherwise, they must be accompanied by certified translations in the English Language.

 

Please submit your online application early to facilitate processing. Short-listed applicants may be contacted for an interview.

 

Kindly note that all tuition fees are payable in full upon acceptance of the offer letter from SUTD and are non-refundable once paid.

Applicants from the People’s Republic of China are required to comply with Taiwan’s Immigration Department’s student exchange application requirements (applicants are required to observe and fulfil items 1-4, 12 and 13 where necessary).

Application Fees

All applicants are required to pay a non-refundable application fee of S$21.80 (inclusive of prevailing Goods & Services Tax). Please make payment by the application closing date for your application to be processed. Applicants will be prompted to make payment in the online application portal during your application.
