Congratulations to Prof Xiong Zehui in winning IEEE Computer Society (IEEE-CS) Early Career Researcher Award for Excellence in Scalable Computing – Information Systems Technology and Design (ISTD)

SUTD Assistant Professor Zehui Xiong from the Pillar of Information Systems Technology and Design has won the IEEE Computer Society (IEEE-CS) Early Career Researcher Award for Excellence in Scalable Computing, sponsored by the IEEE Technical Committee on Scalable Computing (IEEE TCSC). He is recognized with the prestigious award because of his outstanding contributions to “Scalable service management, modeling, and optimization in edge computing and Internet of Things”. The awards ceremony took place in December during the 23rd IEEE International Symposium on High Performance Computing and Communications (IEEE HPCC).

 

The IEEE Computer Society Technical Committee on Scalable Computing Award for Excellence in Scalable Computing (Early Career Researchers Award) recognizes up to 5 individuals who have made outstanding, influential, and potentially long-lasting contributions in the field of scalable computing. Typically the candidates are within 5 years of receiving their Ph.D. degree as of January 01 of the year of the award.

 

The IEEE TCSC is an international forum fostering research and education in Scalable Computing. TCSC is interested in all areas of scalable computing, including but not limited to, scalable computing infrastructure and middleware, scalable systems, scalable data science, scalable data analytics, scalable machine learning and scalable deep learning, scalable enterprise systems, and scalable business analytics and applications.

 

Prof. Zehui joined Singapore University of Technology and Design as a tenure-track Assistant Professor on Jan 2021. Prior to that, he was a researcher with Alibaba-NTU Joint Research Institute, Singapore. He obtained the B.Eng degree with the highest honors in Telecommunications Engineering at Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan, China. He received the Ph.D. degree in Computer Science and Engineering at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He was a visiting scholar with Department of Electrical Engineering at Princeton University and a visiting scholar with Broadband Communications Research Lab in Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at University of Waterloo. His research interests include 5G/6G wireless communications, network games and economics, blockchain, edge intelligence, and metaverse. He has published more than 120 peer-reviewed research papers in leading journals and flagship conferences, and many of them are ESI Highly Cited Papers. He has won over 10 Best Paper Awards in international conferences. He serves as an Editor or Guest Editor for many leading journals such as IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications, IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, IEEE Internet of Things Journal, IEEE Transactions on Cognitive Communications and Networking, IEEE Transactions on Network Science and Engineering. He also serves on the Editorial Board for IEEE Systems Journal, Computer Networks, Computer Communications, Physical Communication, IET Communications, Early Career Advisory Board for IEEE/CAA Journal of Automatica Sinica, and IEEE VTS Ad Hoc Committee for AI in Wireless Communications. He is the recipient of the IEEE TCSC Early Career Researcher Award for Excellence in Scalable Computing, Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Students Abroad, and NTU SCSE Best PhD Thesis Runner-Up Award. He is the Founding Vice Chair of Special Interest Group on Wireless Blockchain Networks in IEEE Cognitive Networks Technical Committee. He has served as the organizing co-chair, program co-chair, technical program committee member for numerous international conferences and workshops such as MobiCom, INFOCOM, IJCAI, AAAI, ICML, ICASSP, GLOBECOM, ICC, WCNC, ICDCS.
