Education

Teck Hua was awarded overseas scholarships for his university studies, from which he obtained a Bachelor of Computing (Digital Technology) from Monash University in 1993 and a Master of Education (Educational Psychology) from the University of Sydney in 1999.

Work Experience

Teck Hua first started his career in Apple Computer in late 1980s and early 1990s. Thereafter, he joined Temasek Polytechnic (TP) as a lecturer and was involved in many pioneering initiatives in the polytechnic, such as the set up of the School of Humanities & Social Sciences, where he was the founding course manager for the school’s first diploma – Diploma in Psychology Studies. He was also seconded to the National Institute of Early Childhood Development (NIEC), from 2017 to 2021, as the founding Registrar and Dean for Academic & Student Management.

He holds a patent for an invention, which won him the Tan Kah Kee Young Inventors’ Award (Silver Medal) in 1997.

In 2021, he was awarded a scholarship from the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) to pursue his PhD studies, under the supervision of Dr Yow Wei Quin.

Research Topic

Teck Hua’s current PhD research interest is in exploring how we may harness digital technology (e.g., artificial intelligence, wearables, smart phone apps) and design to help people enhance their resilience and overall well-being in a fun and engaging way.
