SUTD develops new healthcare focused courses in partnership with industry and hospitals. Some courses include sponsored hands-on design projects with industry and faculty mentorship. Besides, outstanding students can gain conditional admission to Duke-NUS Medical School’s Doctor of Medicine (MD) programme.

Capstone Projects
2-term student-led projects based on problem statements provided by healthcare professionals and companies.
Internship/Industry Research
A 16/8-week programme during the summer vacation to apply what students learnt in the classroom to the real-world.
Undergraduate Research Opportunities Programmeme (UROP)
2-term faculty-led or students initiated projects that allow undergraduates to explore their research interests and participate in different phases of standard research activity which include, developing research plans, writing proposals, conducting research, analysing data and presenting research results in oral and written form.
Independent Activity Period (IAP) Programme
- A prelude for students interested in biomedical and healthcare innovation
- Include site visit to hospital facilities and an attachment to Healthcare Professionals to better understand day-to-day operations and challenges faced in the course of healthcare delivery
SUTD-Duke-NUS Special Track
- Nurturing future clinicians who can build on their technology & design knowledge to treat patients and bring about medical innovations
- Gain conditional admission to Duke-NUS Medical School’s Doctor of Medicine (MD) programme
- Special-Track students graduate with a B.Eng/B.Sc and MD/PhD upon successfully completion of the programme to be clinician innovators
