Courses and modules
These industry-relevant courses focus on equipping Singaporeans with emerging skills in areas such as Data Analytics, Cybersecurity, Design Innovation, Digital Media, Advanced Manufacturing, Unmanned Aerial Systems, and others.
Introduction to Data Science
Across the world, and industries, data science is in demand, and is receiving an increasing attention due to its research and application significance. Modern professionals are recognising the need to acquire skills in data science to stay relevant in the increasingly digital economy.
Introduction to Digital Product Management
Be at the intersection of business viability, technical feasibility and best in class customer experience. Designed for non-technical executives, this course will provide an understanding of product management and the roles that product managers play.
Introduction to Energy Storage Devices
Energy storage devices (including lithium-ion batteries) are one group of emerging technologies that have wide areas of industrial, commercial as well as consumer applications. This course seeks to provide participants with technical understanding of lithium-ion battery technology and its subcomponents. Both current and future energy storage devices will be discussed. In addition, with the increasing use of electrical vehicles, basic requirements of batteries for electrical vehicles will also be explored.
Introduction to Functional Textile Design and Sustainable Manufacturing
Computer Numerical Control (CNC) knitted products have become increasingly prevalent in everyday life over the past few years, manifesting in domains that are both design-oriented (sweaters and shoe uppers) and engineering-oriented (seat covers and vehicle chassis preforms etc.). Using design inputs, the machine’s loop-by-loop formation enables users to create shaped geometries with different localised properties in a single manufacturing step. Thus, this broadens the design freedom to create a variety of technical textiles with functional properties that can be used for different industries. Moreover, this additive manufacturing technique presents a sustainable method of creating textiles without depending on conventional cut-and-sew processes.
Introduction to HR Analytics and Basic Statistical Analysis
In today’s digital economy, it is crucial for business professionals and leadership teams to be able to use analytics to manage Human Resources. With technological advancements towards a more data driven economy, it is imperative for HR professionals to understand data science and how to use techniques in data science to make sense of people data.
Introduction to Optics: Color Generation and Measurement
Digital cameras today are modeled after the human eye. They capture color information based only on three color filters, i.e. red, green and blue (R,G,B). With increasing advances in imagers and sensors, more detailed color information in the form of multispectral detectors are being developed to address specific needs in various industries. As color perception is one of the most quantifiable of human senses, this course aims to provide a foundational understanding of colors and how colors are generated, measured and quantified.
Introduction to Privacy Engineering
Digital economy runs on data. Technology is getting more powerful, ubiquitous and invasive. The frequency and scale of data breaches and cybersecurity incidents have been on the rise. Worse, there are practices that organisations have violated the privacy of the individuals whose data they have collected and used.
