Jonathan Yuen is Head of Rajah & Tann’s Employment and Commercial Litigation Practices. He has over two decades of experience advising and representing clients in complex corporate disputes, negotiations and mediations.

 

He is recognised as a Distinguished Practitioner by asialaw, a Litigation Star by Benchmark Litigation Asia-Pacific, and a Leading Employment lawyer by Chambers Asia-Pacific and The Legal 500 Asia PacificChambers Asia-Pacific praises his “exceptional understanding of the law and how the courts will respond” and his “crystal clear” advice. The Legal 500 calls him “very impressive,” “commercially savvy,” an “excellent, articulate counsel,” who “deeply understands client’s businesses”, highlighting that “his business acumen and network set him apart.

 

He advises employers and management-level employees on a wide range of employment matters, including strategic engagements with the Ministry of Manpower (MOM), Tripartite Alliance for Fair & Progressive Employment Practices (TAFEP), and other regulatory bodies. Jonathan acts in unfair dismissal, discrimination, workplace harassment and other employee claims; and workplace investigations that involve diversion of business, breach of confidentiality and non-solicit and non-competition clauses and employee misconduct. He is often engaged to negotiate with trade unions and statutory authorities on behalf of employers.

 

Jonathan holds an MBA from the University of Chicago, Booth School of Business, and is certified in negotiation at Harvard Law School. He is qualified as a Certified Mediator with the Singapore International Mediation Centre and the International Mediation Institute.
