Frequently asked questions
Am I allowed to go on exchange programmes if I'm under the HASS minors?
Yes, you are allowed to. However, the courses will have to be approved for minor mapping prior embarking on the exchange.
Can you pick your own HASS mods during freshmore?
No. You will need to complete 2 compulsory HASS modules in the Freshmore year.
Is HASS compulsory?
Yes. HASS subjects complement the technical subjects to provide students with a grounding in the practice of inquiry, analysis, interpretation and presentation, developing critical thinkers. Having a good grounding in HASS also provides students with a good understanding of societal needs.
How many HASS subjects am I required to complete to graduate?
You are required to complete a total of 7 HASS subjects, of which 2 are the compulsory HASS subjects, 02.001 and 02.003. For the remaining 5, you are free to choose any available HASS courses offered during the term.
How do I apply for a HASS minor?
Please refer to our Design, Technology and Society (DTS) Minor and Digital Humanities (DH) Minor page for the application procedure.
