Industry collaboration
With a strong focus on computing, systems and intelligence, ISTD students are the drivers of the future’s digital development. They possess abilities in computing and system knowledge in both software and hardware, as well as the power to design machines of the future with augmented intelligence. ISTD students are empowered to tackle challenging real-world problems and develop need-driven computing solutions. A key part of their training is to focus on industry collaboration with our trusted partners. Our aim is to connect you with ISTD’s expertise and talents, through various opportunities tailored to your organisation’s needs below.
Industry seminars and workshops
ISTD runs a signature seminar series named ‘CONVERSATION WITH INDUSTRY LEADERS (COIL)’. Guest lectures complement and enhance our rigorous curriculum. Through these sharing sessions by our industry speakers, there will be engagement and interaction with our students, benefitting them with insights from the real would in terms of business, technology and project perspective. A COIL seminar can be arranged through our faculty for it to be held in conjunction of classes, either as an open or closed event.
From time to time, we also collaborate with industry partners to run hands-on workshops, with the common aim of educating our technology aspirants to new technologies, methodologies or enhancing their soft skills.
Donations – student Merit Awards, project competitions and scholarships
Student Merit Awards can be in the form of Specialised Track or Course Awards, both recognise top students for their outstanding achievements in either academic results or course projects. We also welcome sponsors for student project competition/ hackathon, student scholarships and any other forms of donation to incentivise the aspiring leaders of tomorrow. Other than enjoying tax rebates for donation, our Donors will have the special privileges of enhanced corporate visibility, talent scouting, priority to attend pillar events and access to student community. Currently we offer seven specialisation tracks – Artificial Intelligence, Data Analytics, Security, Financial Technology, IoT and Intelligence Systems, Software Engineering and Visual Analytics and Computing, as well as more than 22 courses offered to ISTD students.
- ISTD Track Award: $5,000 annually
- ISTD Course Award: $2,000 annually
Company visits
Through visits to companies and innovation centres, our students will gain a very good insight and understanding of your company profile. By hosting our students, you can excite them about your company’s technology, business, work culture and employment opportunities. Such trips help to broaden our students’ learning horizon beyond classroom-learning, expose them to real-world technology challenges and provide you with a unique interaction opportunity with our students.
Real-life industry student projects
We welcome industry partners to collaborate with our faculty to provide real-life problem statement for students to work on as part of their course project. Below are some of such past-collaborations:
Examples of industry projects | Industry partners |
Know Your Client | IBM |
Modern Support Ticket System | Accenture |
SG Innovative Talent | SG Innovate |
Contact Center Routing for Rainbow | Alcatel Lucent |
Digital Identity | PayPal |
Hotel Booking System & Loyalty Program | Ascenda Loyalty |
Building Data Consistency Verification | HDB |
Software Platform for F&B Audit | SingHealth |
Through such win-win collaboration, industry partners shall benefit from the novel ideas of students in the form of project prototyping and design-thinking solution, with the possibility of scouting talents among them.
Special programme
We welcome our industry partners to offer our faculty and students education programme and workshops that enrich and broaden their teaching and learning experience in computing. Some of the key educational programme we have established include AWS Academy and Educate programme, Sigfox Education programme, SAP University Alliances programme, Oracle Academy programme, Juniper Networks Cloud and Automation Academy, and Google Computer Science Summer Institute Program. For workshops, we had industry experts who conducted Agile Methodology and Blockchain technology to our students. Some companies hosted our students at their offices or innovation centres for a more immersive experience of the company’s innovations, culture and career opportunities.
We strive to achieve win-win outcome with our industry partners who have different goals and needs by consulting with them to identify the most appropriate collaboration opportunities. Feel free to contact us to explore further.
