The SUTD Wireless Innovation Centre (SWIC) was established in 2023. Our goal is to establish a world-leading research centre on short-range communications and Wi-Fi technologies. Our state-of-the-art facility is poised to explore and elevate the realms of Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and other short-range communication protocols. To partake in this pivotal journey, contributing to the reshaping of connectivity paradigms in the digital era.

Our Mission

Our Centre is committed to become a world-leading short-range communications and related research centre research centre. We aim to achieve breakthroughs in research related to wireless communications, especially in Wi-Fi and short-range communications. We also aim to nurture students to be technically grounded leaders and innovators.

Research agenda

The SUTD Wireless Innovation Centre focuses on research in short-range communications including but not limited to the following:

• MIMO technologies for Wi-Fi
• AI algorithms for Wi-Fi and short-range communications
• Wi-Fi sensing and Integrated Sensing and Communication (ISAC)
• Wireless power transfer and beamforming
• Millimeter waves
• Semantic communications (age of information)
• Intelligent Reflecting Surface (IRS)
