KWAN IM THONG HOOD CHO TEMPLE PROFESSORSHIP IN HEALTHCARE ENGINEERING

The Kwan Im Thong Hood Cho Temple Professorship in Healthcare Engineering is established with a generous gift from the Kwan Im Thong Hood Cho Temple. The objective of the Professorship is to develop medical innovations and nurture future healthcare engineers with practical applications of technology to healthcare so as to address the community’s healthcare needs. It will be used to support up to two appointments. Appointees must be either an SUTD faculty member or a practicing clinician selected by the University, and whose research has had a significant impact on healthcare.

Kwan Im Thong Hood Cho Temple (观音堂佛祖庙) is a traditional Chinese temple situated at 178 Waterloo Street in Singapore. Built in 1884, it is one of the oldest temples in Singapore and is a popular place of worship for local devotees of Guan Yin (观音), the Goddess of Mercy. The Temple is known for its work towards charity, contributing to several health and educational organisations.
