Housing Application Terms and Conditions

Eligibility

To be eligible for student housing, applicants should meet the following criteria:

  • Must be or will be matriculated as a full-time student with the Singapore University of Technology and Design. Hostel stay is not applicable to Master of Science in Technology and Design (MTD) programme students for AY2023; for queries, please contact MTD@sutd.edu.sg.

  • Have or will have an "active" academic status e.g. not on Leave of Absence (LOA)

  • Have obtained prior approval from the University to resume their studies if they have been away on a long-term LOA

  • Have no outstanding housing-related arrears

  • Are not debarred from staying in the hostel due to disciplinary reasons. Students are not eligible to apply for or stay at student housing for the duration of the debarment.

  • International students must have a valid student pass as issued by the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) (not applicable to Singapore Permanent Residents)

  • Be insured under the SUTD student insurance scheme or its equivalent for the duration of stay

Application

To apply, applicants are to:

  • Submit a valid and complete student housing application during stipulated application windows

  • Pay a non-refundable application fee of S$10 (subject to GST) via the housing portal (not applicable to Freshmore mandatory stay)

  • Note that no exemption or extension of time will be granted for the application window except under exceptional circumstances as determined by the Office of Housing

  • Note that once submitted, no amendments can be made to the application. In the event of multiple complete applications, the latest application will be processed.

Acceptance of Offer

Successful applicants should note the following:

  • Successful applicants will need to accept their student housing offers by paying an acceptance fee of S$200 by the stipulated deadlines (not applicable to Freshmore mandatory stay)

  • There will be no refund of the acceptance fee except under exceptional circumstances as determined and approved by the Office of Housing

  • The acceptance fee will be used to offset against the student’s housing fees

  • No exemption or extension of time will be granted for the acceptance window except under exceptional circumstances as determined by the Office of Housing

  • Residents are expected to reside in the same accommodation for the duration of their stay

  • Cancellation charges may be imposed for students who cancel or shorten their stay after payment of the acceptance fee

  • Residents are expected to abide by all the regulations in the Student Housing Terms and Conditions as well as any other hostel regulations that may be imposed from time to time
