Student – Industry Collaborations to Design a Better World
Our students collaborate across architecture, engineering, and computer science disciplines, and with industry partners to design interdisciplinary innovations that are more holistic and creative.
BEEP - Dispensing Masks, ART Kits and TraceTogether Tokens with Ease
Startup BEEP, co-founded by CSD student Terence Tan in his first year at SUTD, had worked with the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Ministry of Health, People's Association and GovTech Singapore to distribute over 30 million masks, 1.3 million TraceTogether Tokens, and 2.5 million ART Kits to date (and counting). Their contribution to COVID-19 response was mentioned by Minister for Communications and Information Josephine Teo in her speech for the Committee of Supply debate 2022 (watch video of speech).
Partnering with IHH Healthcare Singapore, BD and Warburg Vending, they introduced the ART Vending Machines, which automated the registration for Rostered Routine Testing and reduced staffing per test station by 66% at IHH Healthcare Singapore hospitals. In this video, Dr Noel Yeo (Chief Operating Officer, IHH Healthcare Singapore) and Terence show how easy it is to retrieve an ART Test Kit and share about the benefits of using the vending machine.
