In SUTD, we are committed to ensure that no deserving Singaporean student is denied access to our programmes because of financial reasons. We have a range of financial assistance programmes in place to help students from lower and middle-income families. To make our programmes even more affordable, we will introduce a new Community Grant. The SUTD Community Grant is a fixed grant of S$1,500 per term (S$3,000 per year) that will be given to all existing and incoming Singaporean undergraduates who are not already receiving any form of financial aid or scholarships. The grant is tenable for up to eight academic terms, provided the student continues to meet the eligibility criteria. It is estimated that more than 800 students per year will benefit from this grant. In addition, the SUTD Education Opportunity Grant (SEOG) provides financial support for students from lower and middle-income families to offset their tuition fees. Taken together with the enhanced Higher Education Community Bursary from the Government, these students will receive a financial package equal to 100% of their tuition fees as well as full coverage of the hostel fees during the compulsory Freshmore terms. With the new Community Grant, SEOG and scholarships, all students who enrol in SUTD will receive some form of subsidy or sponsorship for their tuition fees (For more details, please refer to Annex A). SUTD President, Professor Chong Tow Chong said: “SUTD has introduced various financial schemes that are in line with the Government’s efforts to enable every Singaporean student to have the opportunity to receive a good education regardless of family circumstances. The SUTD Community Grant and SEOG help ensure that all eligible students who want to pursue an education in technology and design will not miss out on an SUTD education because of financial difficulties.” To find out more details about SUTD’s Community Grant, students interested to join SUTD should visit SUTD’s Open House, which is going digital, on 22 February starting from 11am at https://openhouse.sutd.edu.sg/.
