Together with a new advertising campaign, SUTD has launched the largest bus advertising installation in local history to highlight its identity as a "School for Innovators". According to a statement from SUTD on Monday (Jan 15), a total of six public buses (services 39, 107, 174, 74, 196 and 502) will be equipped with three-dimensional advertising devices. The first three buses will be equipped with two giant robotic arms 4.2 meters long and 0.7 meters high on their roofs. There will also be a pair of robotic arms on the doors and windows. The second batch of advertisements will be launched on February 8. A replica model of an electric racing car will be installed on the roof of the bus. The public will see two robotic arms "mounting" tires on the electric vehicle on the bus. These three-dimensional advertising installations are made of fiberglass, and the production process took about 600 hours in total. Ms Tammy Tan, chief communications officer of SUTD’s Office of Marketing and Communications, said: "This campaign showcases SUTD as a university which debunks traditional concepts of what a tertiary institution looks like. Instead of just using pen and paper, our students use robots as stationery. In place of theses, they design and build creative and innovative solutions for real-world problems." ComfortDelGro's advertising company Moove Media is responsible for producing the three-dimensional installation Mr Nelson Low, Head of Creative at Moove Media said that these robotic arms are one of the most difficult 3D installations the company has ever produced, and a total of six fiberglass production experts were engaged in the production process. SUTD, located at Somapah Road, will hold its annual open house on February 24 and 25, from 10.30am to 5.30pm.
