SingHealth announced on Thursday (November 28) the signing of a tripartite memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the two universities at the first Asia-Pacific Population Health Conference and the second Asia-Pacific Social Prescribing Conference. The three parties will work together to develop a white paper and implementation plan on population health to promote the healthy development of the local population. The white paper will focus on three aspects: aging in place, brain and cognitive health, and social isolation. The White Paper will advocate for an integrated community system that integrates health care, social services, the built environment and technology to help seniors maintain their independence and ensure their quality of life. Professor Tai Lee Siang, head of Architecture and Sustainable Design at SUTD, gave an example that the Community Ageing in Place Ecosystem is one of the collaborative projects. SUTD will work with SingHealth to co-design spaces to facilitate social programming run by community partners like Montfort Care and Thye Hua Kwan. Tai Lee Siang pointed out that the participating interdisciplinary research team is composed of researchers from multiple fields such as architecture, humanities and social sciences. They will apply their capabilities in design, artificial intelligence and deep technology research to explore new ways to address ageing in place.
