Singapore will invest nearly $300 million in the development of quantum technology over the next five years. The investment and plans for the quantum sector were announced on May 30 by Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat.

To organise and promote quantum research in different local research institutions, the Centre for Quantum Technologies will appoint chief researchers from A*STAR, the National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University and the Singapore University of Technology and Design to lead research teams to conduct quantum research. There are currently about 200 researchers and 150 doctoral students in these four institutions.
