SUTD Global Distinguished Award

The SUTD Global Distinguished Award serves to recognise high performing students with outstanding achievements. The Award provides a generous stipend, as well as sponsorship and priority consideration for our overseas programmes**, which include Summer Programmes or the Global Exchange Programme (GEXP) at one of SUTD’s partner institutions overseas - in Americas, Europe, Asia and Oceania. These programmes serve as international social network platforms for you to interact and exchange ideas with other students in top educational institutions globally. Additionally, you will also have various opportunities to hone your leadership skills through participation in selected Fifth Row groups such as the University Ambassador Club.

** Certain overseas programmes may be withdrawn, cut down or subject to change due to the occurrence of events beyond the control of SUTD.


ELIGIBILITY

The Award is open to all nationalities who

  • are applying for admission to SUTD’s undergraduate degree programme

  • have outstanding Singapore-Cambridge GCE 'A' level, Local Polytechnic Diploma, NUS High School Diploma, IB Diploma or Year 12 equivalent qualifications

  • possess good records and/or achievements in co-curricular and/or community activities
  • have a passion for technology and/or design


BENEFITS OF AWARD

The Award covers

  • grant of S$9,000 which may be applied towards one Approved Overseas Programme+ (at S$9,000) or for two Approved Overseas Programmes+ (at S$4,500 per programme); 

  • allowance of S$7,000 every 2 terms; and

  • priority consideration for leadership development through participation in Fifth Row groups such as the University Ambassador Club

The Award recipient may be in concurrent receipt of a donor-sponsored or external scholarship. No bond is attached to the Award.

These benefits apply to awards issued from 2022 onwards.

+ Approved overseas programmes include summer programmes and student exchange programmes which are at least 4 weeks in duration, as well as selected overseas internships of 4 to 6 months.


TERMS & CONDITIONS

  • The recipient is required to achieve and maintain good academic standing. Academic performance will be reviewed every term.

  • Recipients are required to complete at least 20 hours of service to the University. They may take on the role of student ambassador, or any other similar role, representing SUTD to give publicity talks, to receive guests, etc., as and when called upon to do so.

  • Recipients may not, without the approval of the University, hold concurrently any other scholarships, awards or grants.

  • The award may be withdrawn at any time if, in the opinion of the University, the recipient’s academic progress or conduct is deemed unsatisfactory.

  • If the recipient decides to terminate the award prematurely, SUTD reserves the right to impose a repayment on a case-by-case basis.


APPLICATION PROCEDURES

  • Award recipients will be selected by the Admissions Selection Committee as part of the admission review process. Recipients will be notified of the award along with their admission offer.

  • SUTD reserves the right not to award any award if there are no candidates of sufficient merit.
