Ergonomic Design Challenge – Design your own smart phone holder using Digital and Additive Manufacturing
29 May 2024, Wednesday, 9AM to 4PM
This workshop is conducted by the Digital Manufacturing and Design Centre (DManD), in collaboration with the National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Cluster (NAMIC).
Smart phones are part and parcel of our daily lives, giving us access to information, convenience, and entertainment. However, prolonged usage can be harmful to our health, one of which being musculoskeletal strain. In this challenge, participants will be designing an add-on to their smart phone that will improve the ergonomics of their devices. Each participant will be given plasticine to create a prototype. The prototypes are then 3D surfaced scanned to create a digitized model. Selected prototypes will be 3D-printed and stand a chance to win the challenge!
Finalists will be returning for Day 2 of showcase + award ceremony, on 7 June 2024, Friday, 1PM - 3.30PM.
Participants are required to bring their own smartphone for the challenge. More details will be provided in the confirmation email upon registration.
