Organised by the Digital and Intelligence Service and the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore, with support from iTrust/SUTD and the National Cybersecurity R&D Laboratory, CIDeX 2023 marked a collaborative effort to enhance Whole-Of-Government (WoG) cyber capabilities.

While the world is still trying to understand the full capabilities of artificial intelligence (AI), a young innovator from the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) has made vast strides in the development of its conversational mode.

Associate Professor Foong Shaohui came up with the idea in 2019 when chatting with Land Transport Authority (LTA) officers who told him of the difficulty in inspecting viaduct bearings for wear and tear, or defects.

Finding a way to ensure uniform shrinkage of features below the wavelength of visible light is a challenge for two-photon polymerization lithography (TPL). A team of engineers from SUTD and the Industrial Technology Center of Wakayama Prefecture in Japan have introduced a new method for ensuring even shrinkage in 3D-printed structures under heat treatment.

In the paper titled ‘Rapid and accurate antimicrobial susceptibility testing using label-free electrical impedance-based microfluidic platform’, Assoc Prof Ye Ai and his team successfully developed an electrical impedance-based microfluidic platform that provides rapid and accurate AMR evaluation within an hour.

The research centre will be established in partnership with the China-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City Administrative Committee (ECAC) and the Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City Investment and Development Co., Ltd. (SSTEC), under the auspices of the Tianjin Eco-City project.

The Centre will be housed within the Low Carbon Living Lab, to nurture talents and co-innovate solutions for sustainable and low-carbon development.

Peicai Secondary School partnered with SUTD to redesign its Applied Learning Programme (ALP) curriculum for students. SUTD was tasked with upskilling the teachers to conduct the programme, and conducted interviews with students to co-develop the new curriculum.
