In Singapore’s next chapter, embracing collective responsibility and fostering inclusive participation will be key in our journey to becoming a future-ready society, say Suhaila Zainal Shah, Samuel Chng and Harvey Neo from SUTD’s Lee Kuan Yew Centre for Innovative Cities.

Artificial intelligence (AI) systems can make an important contribution to tackling cyber attacks, flagging anomalies to system operators. But these systems are often opaque, leading to concerns about trust and accountability.

Last September, the first batch of students enrolled in SUTD's 42 programme. In the coming months, several students will complete the ninth level of the core curriculum and begin internships at various local institutions. Among them, three students have achieved the fastest completion of the core curriculum globally.

Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat also suggested 3Cs in place of the 5Cs at the Singapore University of Technology and Design’s Ministerial Forum in 2021: creating more value for society, caring about the environment and wider community, and charting the way forward.

SUTD alumna Lim Yu Wen studied architecture before enrolling in medical school. While others might view her as "wasting time," she does not share that opinion. Yu Wen had long wanted to become a doctor, but she was also interested in other subjects, especially architecture and urban planning. She worried that if she studied medicine right away, she would not have the opportunity to explore other subjects.
