Cheng Hong Siang Tng – SUTD Education Opportunity Grant

Cheng Hong Siang Tng – SUTD Education Opportunity Grant is established to help deserving needy students pursue their studies at SUTD and reduce their financial burden, after taking into account all other financial aid schemes.


Eligibility

  • Full-time undergraduates who are Singapore Citizens, in any year of study and enrolled in any undergraduate programme at the University
  • Demonstrated financial need with monthly household Per Capita Income of S$2,250 and below, or the prevailing upper limit for monthly household Per Capita Income as specified by the Ministry of Education
  • Immediate family does not own any private property and residing in a 4-room HDB flat or smaller
  • Good moral character and community spirit
  • Must not be a current scholarship holder


Tenure

Each Award is tenable for one Academic Year.


Benefits of Award

  • The Award is valued at S$7,500 per Academic Year.
  • The Award shall be applied towards the payment of the recipients' subsidised tuition fees and other study related expenses.
  • No bond attached.


Things to Note

Recipients must take up the Tuition Fee Grant Subsidy by the Singapore Government.
 

THIS STUDY AWARD IS MADE POSSIBLE BY:
Cheng Hong Siang Tng (众弘善堂) was founded in an old village at Tai Seng Avenue in 1974 by a few public-spirited residents who started a service to provide help to the needy and became member of Blue Cross Charitable Institution in 1977.
 
As devotees of Patron Saint Master Song Da Fong, a committee was formed to carry out its activities and services as according to the teaching of our Patron Saint. This was the beginning of Cheng Hong Siang Tng. The services were basic and appropriate during those days. Cheng Hong Siang Tng was providing help to the poor, free medical cares, conduct funeral services and occasionally provide free burial services to the needy.
 
In 2000, Cheng Hong Siang Tng joined the South West Community Development Council (CDC), PAP Community Foundation (PCF) Yuhua, and Thye Hua Kwan Moral Society jointly setup Loving Heart Multi-Service Centre. Loving Heart Multi-Service Centre runs a number of services and programmes to benefit the elderly and needy residents in the South West CDC district namely, Meals Delivery Service, Medical Escort, Home Help Service, Counselling Service, Family Life Education and other community services.
