Follow up actions - Advisory on Covid-19 case on SUTD Campus

23 July 2021 - updated 4.05PM

Dear SUTD Community

As a further update to our earlier note, we have continued to intensify our sanitising efforts to places beyond areas visited by the contractor who had tested positive for Covid-19. The cleaning exercise will continue throughout the weekend and will include classrooms and office spaces.

The contractor mainly worked in the outdoor open spaces and the common areas. The areas visited are as follows:

  • Canteen
  • Building 1 open space on ground floor
  • Building 2 open spaces level 3 to 7
  • Lifts in Building 2 Lobbies E & F
  • Green space next to eco-pond
  • Tennis Court
  • Lift in Sports & Recreation Centre

Our cleaning crew has sanitised all of the above areas. Every passenger and service lift on campus has been sanitised, although the contractor only used the service lifts. Likewise, we are sanitising all restrooms on campus. The canteen will also be closed tomorrow, Saturday, 24 July 2021, to facilitate another round of deep cleaning. Residents on campus can still order takeaways from the various F&B outlets or order delivery. We apologise for the inconvenience. Our priority is to keep the community safe.

All close contacts with the contractor have been placed under quarantine for the next 14 days and will undergo periodic mandatory testing. To date, no other cases have been identified.

Thank you, and stay safe.

Best Regards,
Professor Chong Tow Chong

Advisory on Covid-19 case on SUTD Campus

23 July 2021

Dear SUTD Community

We regret to inform you that a supervisor of our landscaping contractor has tested positive for Covid-19 on 22 July 2021. The affected supervisor has been in quarantine since 8pm on 21 July 2021 and was last on campus on 21 July 2021 from 8am to 6pm. All persons who had contact with him were asked to isolate themselves and stay away from the campus for 2 weeks from 23 July 2021.

Office of Campus Facilities has taken measures to sanitise and do deep cleaning of all passenger lifts and areas visited by the supervisor.

We wish to assure you that the University will continue to monitor the situation and apprise the community of any further developments that may arise. Please continue to remain vigilant in observing safe management measures as well as to seek prompt medical attention if you feel unwell.

Thank you, and stay safe.

Best Regards,
Professor Chong Tow Chong
