Winners of the SUTD Student Achievement Awards 2023

The annual SUTD Student Achievement Awards recognise students who have done outstandingly well in their Fifth Row activities and academic endeavours. These students have brought honour to the University and impacted the SUTD community positively.

Jyoti and Aditya Mathur Student Achievement Awards

Entrepreneurial Spirit Award

  • Sean Chen Zhi En 
    • Sean demonstrated the characteristics of risk-taking and creativity and positively impacted the SUTD community and beyond.

Humanitarian Award

  • Leong Wen Jie Lucas
    • Lucas served in the Rotaract Club and led several initiatives such as the Homeless in Singapore Webinar and Project Bear.
  • Lim Yu Wen 
    • As the Community Service Director of the Rotaract Club, Yu Wen organised several activities for the community.
  • SUTD Rotaract Club
    • The club organised numerous community service projects. Notable projects included Project Bear done in collaboration with HCA Hospice.

Laurel Award

  • Janna Tee Jiahui
    • Janna did SUTD proud at the ASEAN University Games 2022 by clinching two bronze medals in both the Lead Climbing and the Bouldering categories.
  • Ong Jung Yi
    • Jung Yi represented SUTD at the Singapore University Games 2022 and achieved two gold medals in the Men’s 50metres and 100metres Butterfly events. Additionally, he also broke the meet record for both events.
  • Velusamy Sathiakumar Ragul Balaji
    • Velusamy brought glory to the University through his continued good standing at various competitions.
  • Floorball Women’s Team – SUniG March 2022
    • The team did SUTD proud by clinching a silver medal at the Singapore University Games 2022.
  • Tchoukball Women’s Team – SUniG March 2022
    • The team brought SUTD to greater heights of glory by clinching a gold medal at the Singapore University Games 2022.

Outstanding Student Organisation Award

    SUTD APEX Club
    • The team organised various outdoor adventure activities and encouraged the SUTD community to remain active amidst the COVID-19 climate.
  • SUTD EV Club
    • The club played an active role in campus vibrancy through the organisation of various workshops and activities.  
  • Freshmen Orientation Committee 2022
    • The team contributed to campus vibrancy through the organisation of the Freshmen Orientation 2022.
  • House Guardians
    • The House Guardians actively contributed to students’ hostel life experience through the organisation of various hostel events.
  • SOAR RoboClash Committee 2022
    • The group successfully generated students’ interest in robotics through the organisation of a competition.
  • SUTD Organisation of Autonomous Robotics Club (SOAR)
    • The club contributed to campus vibrancy through the organisation of various training workshops and competitions.
  • SUTD Rotaract Club
    • The club actively contributed to campus vibrancy through the initiation of numerous community service projects.
  • SUTD Student Government, ROOT
    • The SUTD Student Government, ROOT played an active role in campus vibrancy and student engagement through the organisation of numerous events throughout the year.
  • SUTD Technology Entrepreneurship Programme (STEP) EXCO
    • The team contributed to campus vibrancy through the organisation of workshops, fireside chats and seminars and helped students develop entrepreneurial skills.
  • SUTD Tchoukball Club
    • The club supported the University during the Singapore University Games and actively contributed to campus vibrancy.
  • Yearbook Committee 2022
    • The team contributed to campus vibrancy and came up with a refreshing version of the SUTD Yearbook in 2022.

Student Service Award

  • Aster Angelic Leong
    • Aster contributed to the SUTD community through her multiple roles in the Swimming Club, DAI and Freshmen Orientation Committee.
  • Caitlin Wong Yu-Lin
    • Caitlin was an active student leader who contributed to campus vibrancy through her involvement in numerous activities.
  • Chua Zhuo Xuan
    • Zhuo Xuan was an active student leader who contributed to campus vibrancy through her involvement in ROOT.
  • Ernest Ng Wei Jun
    • As the Vice-President of the Rotaract Club, Ernest was an active student leader who contributed to campus vibrancy through his involvement in various activities.
  • Kaung Khant Htet
    • Htet contributed to campus vibrancy through his active involvement as Vice-President of the Bands Club and Fundraising Director of the Freshmen Orientation Committee.
  • Ng Junhao Marcus
    • Marcus was an active student leader who contributed to campus vibrancy through his involvement in various Fifth Rows.
  • Oh Yu Fang
    • Yu Fang was an active student leader who contributed to campus vibrancy through her involvement in various activities.
  • Ong Jun Bin
    • Jun Bin was an active student leader who contributed to campus vibrancy through his involvement in the Bands Club, Freshmen Orientation Committee, DiscoverSUTD, Swimming Club and APEX Club.
  • Tan Hiang Khai Joshua
    • Joshua was a passionate student leader who took on multiple roles in the SOAR Club, University Ambassador, Mechanical Designer Club and ROOT.

Student Leader Award

  • Chua Yi Qi Sarah
    • As the President of ROOT, Sarah actively contributed to campus vibrancy and demonstrated excellent leadership skills.
  • Darren Chan Yu Hao
    • Darren demonstrated excellent leadership skills and contributed to the SUTD community as the Project Director of the Freshmen Orientation Committee 2022.
  • Darren Teng Ren Kiat
    • ​As the Vice-President (Communications) of ROOT, Darren worked very closely with the SUTD community and contributed to campus vibrancy through his active involvement.
  • Kenneth Chin Choon Hean
    • Kenneth demonstrated outstanding leadership skills as a House Guardian EXCO and the Housing Representative under the Student Association Council.
  • Rodrigo Suarez Batllori
    • As the President of the Yoga X Fitness Club, Rodrigo actively promoted yoga amongst the SUTD community and contributed to campus vibrancy.
  • Sim Yu Hui, Kellie
    • As the Vice-President (Operations) of ROOT, Kellie demonstrated excellent leadership skills and contributed to the SUTD community through her involvement in numerous activities.
  • Sitoh Chin Weng Bryan
    • As the President of the Muay Thai Club, Bryan demonstrated excellent leadership skills and contributed to the SUTD community through his multiple roles as a student leader.
  • Timothy Wee Hong En
    • Timothy demonstrated excellent leadership skills and contributed to the SUTD community through his multiple roles as a student leader.
  • Zovin Yeo Yu Kai
    • Zovin demonstrated excellent leadership skills through his role as the President of Table Tennis Club.
