Faculty-led Projects
Faculty interested in offering projects for UROP or iUROP are welcomed to submit their proposals online via SAMS UROP Portal during the call for UROP proposals period (refer to schedule).
For outbound iUROP, please indicate in the title “(Outbound) <Project Title>” and specify the period of overseas research attachment in the proposal.
Project Extensions
The maximum duration of a UROP project is 2 terms. To request for extensions, please write to us at urop@sutd.edu.sg.
Student-initiated Projects
Faculty may be approached by students to be the project supervisor for their self-initiated UROP projects. If faculty is willing to take the student(s) under his/her guidance, he/she will submit the proposal during the call for UROP proposals period (refer to schedule).
Funding
Successful UROP proposals will be supported with a S$1,500 funding for materials and consumables according to the UROP funding guidelines.
Approved projects will open for students to apply in MyPortal.
Prior to application, interested students will approach faculty for a discussion during the application period to find out more about the project scope and expectations. Faculty will also assess the suitability of the student(s) for the project.
Upon agreement by the faculty, students can proceed to apply for the project via MyPortal and the faculty will choose to accept or reject the student(s) via SAMS UROP Portal.
Once application results are out, accepted UROPers will contact the faculty to begin on their UROP journey.
Towards the end of the UROP project, faculty will be asked to evaluate the student's performance. If the work done by the student is satisfactory, faculty can recommend him/her for a UROP certificate.
